Springtime Activities at Tahoe

The spring season might be Tahoe’s best kept secret. Beautiful, long days, fewer crowds, and an abundance of wildflowers and wildlife are some of the highlights of this season. When you stay at The Franciscan Lakeside Lodge’s Tahoe beachfront hotel, there are endless opportunities for enjoying this gorgeous season. Looking for something to do this spring? Here are a few ways that you can enjoy your Tahoe Vista getaway this spring:

Farmers’ Markets:

Spring means fresh fruit and veggies! Both Truckee and Tahoe City host weekly farmers’ markets featuring local artisans, food trucks, and fresh veggies and fruits

Boating:

The Franciscan offers $25/day buoy rentals to lodging guests all summer long! Our buoys are in for the year, and boating Lake Tahoe is a great way to explore areas of Tahoe unreachable by car or by foot. The Franciscan’s location as a Tahoe beachfront hotel makes it easy for you to launch and store your boat while you stay.

Ski:

Squaw Valley/Alpine Meadows has big plans to stay open through the summer this year! Some of the funnest skiing is spring skiing, with soft snow conditions, warm weather, and sunny days. Take a few laps and then relax with a cold beverage on the deck.

Hike:

We received a TON of snow this year, as you may have heard. Some of the lower elevation hikes are opening up now though! Try out Crystal Bay Fire Lookout, Tunnel Creek Trail, or Skunk Harbor for some short, cleared hikes with rewarding views.

Bike:

The paved bike trail up to the Tahoe Regional Park is clear, as are many of the paved trails around the lake. Check out where to cruise here. Many of the mountain bike trails are still pretty wet and snow-covered, but there are some lower elevation trails that are clear enough to get some brown powder turns in.

Paddleboard/Kayak:

The Tahoe Adventure Company next door to The Franciscan Lakeside Lodge offers paddleboard and kayak rentals. Spring is a great time to explore the lake on a paddleboard or kayak. The lake is calm, there are fewer boats and swimmers, and the views are just breathtaking. Spend a serene morning or afternoon exploring the lake using your own human power.

Beach Day:

Hey, you can have beach days in the spring too! You may not want to jump into the water, but the sun is shining, the beaches aren’t crowded, and it’s a great way to post up and relax for a day. Get a head start on your summer reading at the beach this spring, or play some Frisbee and enjoy an afternoon basking and playing in the sun.Tahoe beachfront hotel
