Last night at the 62nd Annual Community Awards Dinner hosted by the North Lake Tahoe Chamber/CVB/Resort Association, Franciscan Lakeside Lodge’s Resort Manager, Kay Williams, was recognized for her important role in our local community, receiving the Distinguished Community Service award. Anyone who has ever met Kay will know of her talent for making great conversation, her friendly smile, and her knack for great customer service. Kay plays an important role here at The Franciscan, and she has also played an important role in shaping the North Lake Tahoe community. Kay is a pioneer in North Lake Tahoe. She helped to found a number of cultural events, like Snowfest, the Autumn Food and Wine Festival and the Lake Tahoe Music Festival series. Kay was also a member of the North Tahoe Rotary Club and the Soroptimist Women’s Organization. Kay continues to improve the offerings of North Lake Tahoe, making it a vibrant place to live and to visit. Kay has also played a huge role in helping to get North Lake Tahoe on the map as a premier vacation destination. Kay was the Director of the Visitors and Convention Bureau for North Lake Tahoe, where she established the central reservation service. She helped to develop the Conference Sales Program for the North Lake Tahoe region and was Director of Marketing for North Tahoe Resort Association. As the owner and operator of the family owned Tahoma Lodge for 36 years, Kay is dedicated to developing strong guest relationships. Throughout her career, she has been involved in many North Tahoe organizations and numerous tourism associations, including West Shore Association Lodging Committee, Lake Tahoe Music Festival Board, North Tahoe Chamber of Commerce Advisory Committee and the Boys and Girls Club Board. As Resort Manager at The Franciscan Lakeside Lodge, she has been the advocate for individual owner issues, fostering a warm customer service culture.
