Lake Tahoe has become known for skiing–with world-class resorts like Squaw Valley, and stunning views at mountains like Diamond Peak. Not a skier? Tahoe should still be on your wintertime bucket list. With fun activities, amazing views, and social events, Lake Tahoe is more than just a ski destination in the winter months. Sightseeing Some of the best views at Tahoe are in the winter. You don’t have to wake up too early to catch a stunning sunset from The Franciscan Lakeside Lodge’s pier, and many of the top sightseeing areas are less crowded in the winter months. Drink in a sunset at Sand Harbor, or enjoy the most photographed area of the lake–Emerald Bay on Lake Tahoe’s magical west shore. Snowshoe or Cross-Country Ski We know that we wrote this for the non-skier, but we are going to make an exception for cross-country skiing. The North Tahoe Regional Park is located just one mile from The Franciscan Lakeside Lodge, and offers groomed trails for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.
